We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for." ~ Professor Keating (Robin Williams) in "Dead Poet's Society"

Faux Contrition
Faux Contrition
Here I am another try at writing
Epistles of love; letters of chance, some notes
To spark a heavy heart, to cease cruel fighting
The lover’s load, tightening of the throats
Some coaxing, just some small words, pillow talk
Penned with thought, a valentine missive
A candied-breeze, flowing sweetly, a walk
Down Eros smooth path where divisive
Demons dare not tread and kill the dream
I’m trying to say I’m sorry, but I sound
Contrived, a phony with an ulterior scheme
I truly didn’t mean to cheat and fool around
With that no good girl whose lovely chest,
Comforts the head at rest, on her soft breast
