We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for." ~ Professor Keating (Robin Williams) in "Dead Poet's Society"

Ancient Wind Advisory
Ancient Wind Advisory
Singing to his aging horse, old Baldan
the Mongol, slowly rides back home
from the top of nearby Steppe Mountain
lighting incenses, making offerings,
worshipping nature. Steppe carpet
slowly rolling under hooves as his
sleepy-eyed mount hobbles on stiff,
old legs. Suddenly she lifts her ears
and softly whinnies, warning about
the gust of wind that keeps prayers
from reaching heaven.
