Christmas Week at Squaw Beach, Agness Oregon
We followed bear tracks
through the snow
to the fishy green
water’s edge
and found them there-
the first winter steelhead,
lice-laden, ocean-fresh,
Kamalopsis wilderness
Rogue natives unaware
of the lurking lures. “Tis’
the season to be jolly”,
my partner whispered.
“Ho, Ho, Ho”, I replied.
